Skincare Tips For Men With Oily Skin
Posted on November 15 2016
That unappealing shine on your face that looks like a mini oil slick is a sign that you have oily skin. Our skin type is determined by our genes and if yours somehow landed at the oily end of the spectrum, chances are, your skin is producing more sebum or oil more than it should. If you have oily skin, you’re more prone to having pimples and acne. You may not be able to change the way your skin produces excessive oil but changing or tweaking your skincare methods and routines will definitely keep the oil at bay. Continue reading this post and get tips on how to control your oily skin.
Tip #1: Wash your face at least twice a day. Don’t wash your face too frequently throughout the day or else, your face will get very dry and your skin would counterweigh it by giving off more oil. Also, look for facial cleansers for men that have salicylic acid, alpha hydroxy acid or benzoyl peroxide because these ingredients have the capability to break down excess oil from the skin and slow down its oil production.
Tip #2: Moisturizing the skin is not an exclusive skincare routine for women. We couldn’t emphasize enough that men should also moisturize their skin on a daily basis to keep it hydrated, soft and younger looking. Many guys with oily skin type don’t use moisturizer because of a common belief that its hydrating properties would make the skin oilier than before. While this is true to some extent, oily skin still needs moisture so choose moisturizers that are oil-free, water-based or in gel type form.
Tip #3: Oily skin type tends to develop shine on the T-zone area. Make sure you have an oil blotting paper that will absorb oil on the nose, cheeks, forehead and chin.
Tip #4: Get rid of dead skin cells and excess oils by exfoliating your skin twice a week. Oily skin tends to be a little sensitive so make sure you use exfoliators that are gentle and are non-abrasive. We like using exfoliators made from special ingredients like ash and clay that work well in absorbing excess oils.
Tip #5: Incorporate retinoid creams to your skincare routine because it works well in keeping bacteria and oil from skin in developing pimples and acne.
