Most men succumb to daily shaving routine (unless they have full-grown beards) which often results to having the skin infuriated. The razor inevitably destroys the hydrolytic film settling on the surface of the skin which strips off the skin’s natural protection against all the harsh rays of the sun and environmental debris. Men also have oilier skin than women which means their skin becomes a perfect canvas for dirt build up.
With these challenges that men’s skin faces every day, facial masks make a significant addition to their skincare regimen. Yup, that’s right – men should also pamper their skin with these rejuvenating treatments to fight dryness and irritation. It will help restore their skin’s natural defenses against all the damaging elements while making it noticeably soft and smooth. Here are some of our favorite facial masks recipes made from natural ingredients that are readily available from your kitchen which you can easily make at home.
OATMEAL, LEMON & EGG MASK: Combine ½ cup cooked oatmeal, raw egg white and 2 tablespoons lemon juice in a mixing bowl to form a paste. Put all over the face and let it sit for 10 minutes before rinsing with warm water. Oatmeal has antibacterial properties that prevent whiteheads and blackheads to clog the pores. The egg white helps dry up and heal existing pimples or acnes. Lemon will remove deep seated dirt and will make the face clean and glow with health.
PINEAPPLE & COCONUT MASK: Throw ½ cup pineapple chunks and ¼ cup coconut milk in a blender or food processor until a smooth consistency is achieved. Smooth the mixture all over the face and let it sit for 15 minutes before rinsing with lukewarm water. Pineapple is rich in antioxidants which help in fighting free radicals while slowing down the aging process. Coconut is rich with high fat content that absorbs all the dirt from the skin leaving it fresh and uncontaminated.
CUCUMBER & YOGHURT MASK: Blend ½ cup plain yoghurt and 1 medium-sized cucumber along with its skin. Apply to face and neck for 20 minutes and rinse with cold water. Cucumbers are natural exfoliators which removes dead skin cells while hydrating the skin. Yoghurt is infused with anti-inflammatory agents which help soothe any skin irritation or discomfort.
