Fall Skincare For Men: How To Keep Skin Healthy

As much as we don’t want to believe it, the first day of fall will arrive in a month’s time. Our summer skin will soon hide beneath our jackets and sweatshirts and that’s not exactly a bad thing. Before we anticipate the so-called dreadful time to bid farewell to our comfortable flip flops, vibrant board shorts or perfect summer tan, let us be the ones to tell you that there are so many things to look forward to the fall season. We mean, it’s the perfect time to be comfortable at home cozying with our loved ones. You will see how leaves would turn resinous as the days go by and not to mention, it’s the time of the year when food are very festive.

The only thing that we don’t like about the fall season, and the constant seasonal changes in general, would be the havoc that it gives to men’s skin. Notice how the skin becomes so sensitive, dry and irritated during this time of the year? The changing weather have the influence to make the skin confused, hence, these skin problems occur. It isimportant that you gradually transition your skincare routine to adapt the windy and cold environmental conditions of the fall season. Here are our tips on how to take care of your skin this coming autumn.

Tip No. 1: Welcome the fall season with a bang by making the skin feel refreshed and invigorated. You can achieve this by shedding off your summer skin with the help of facial and full-body exfoliation. Your skin will feel velvety, smooth and polished. A well-exfoliated skin will encourage new skin growth and will allow better absorption and adherence of moisturizers or hydrators on the skin. Perform gentle exfoliation once a week to maintain the soft skin texture.

Tip No. 2: To many people, the fall season is synonymous to “fall allergy season” because of the constant (and fast!) growth of grass, flowers weeds and bushes that create allergens that will not only make you sneeze like there’s no tomorrow, but will also cause various skin allergies or worse, skin asthma marked by blisters, flaky skin, lesions and rashes. Molds and dust can also trigger skin irritations this fall. Use a ph-balanced body wash and cleansers with antiseptic qualities to prevent these skin issues from happening. It is also recommended to keep your surroundings and house clean.

Tip No. 3: If the skincare products of the summer season focused on oil and perspiration control, the fall season requires you to keep your skin moisturized and hydrated. The cold air can suck all the moisture from your skin leaving it severely dry and flaky. Use a variety of hydrating lotion and creams on your face, body, hands and feet to keep them moisturized, soft and supple. Also, don’t forget to pamper your skin with hydrating masks at least once or at most, twice a week to deeply moisturize the skin.

Tip No. 4: Don’t forget to wear your sunscreen this fall. Your skin can still be damaged by harsh UV rays even if it won’t be sunny this time of the year.

Tip No. 5: The dry air will take out the moisture from the lips causing it to dry, crack and chap. This can be a very painful experience so make sure you have lip balms handy in your pocket at all times to provide your lips with sufficient hydration once you’re out there in the cold.

Tip No. 6: Drink lots and lots of water. Water will help hydrate the skin cells from within which results to a radiant and glowing perfection in the long run.
